NL Op de Nederlandse editie van het monopoly-spel is één van de drie straten van de stad Groningen de Grote Markt (of zoals in de originele versie de Groote Markt). Deze serie heeft de rode kleur en is één van de beste series om in handen te krijgen (op basis van ratio van de prijs van huizen versus de opbrengst). In het midden van Zwolle is ook een Grote Markt.

De Grote Markt is het centrale plein in het oude centrum van de Nederlandse stad Zwolle. Het plein behoort tot de oudste delen van de stad en ligt op de plek waar vroeger een doorwaadbare plaats in het riviertje de Grote Aa was. In de veertiende eeuw werd de Aa gedempt en werd er rondom de plek gebouwd waardoor de huidige vorm ontstond.
In 1929 werd er een rotonde aangelegd op de Grote Markt om het toenemende verkeer in goede banen te kunnen leiden. Deze rotonde is inmiddels weer verdwenen en het plein is niet meer toegankelijk voor autoverkeer, afgezien van taxi's en bevoorrading van de winkels in de binnenstad. In 2006 is het plein gerestaureerd.

Eeuwenlang zijn er op het plein vonnisvoltrekkingen te zien geweest. Hiervoor stond er bij de hoofdwacht van de Grote of Sint-Michaëlskerk een schandpaal. Ook werden hier misdadigers gegeseld en gebrandmerkt. De doodstraf werd hier voltrokken middels radbraking, onthoofding of ophanging. Dit gebeurde voor het laatst in 1837 toen Albert Wetterman werd opgehangen voor de moord op zijn vrouw.

Vanwege de centrale ligging, komen er veel straten uit op het plein waarvan de bekendste wellicht de Diezerstraat is. De Korte Ademhalingssteeg verbindt het plein met het Grote Kerkplein. Aan het plein staan vele oude gebouwen, waaronder de Grote of Sint-Michaëlskerk.

This series has the red color and is one of the best series to get your hands on (based on the ratio of the price of houses versus the yield). There is also a Grote Markt in the middle of Zwolle.

The Grote Markt is the central square in the old center of the Dutch city of Zwolle. The square is one of the oldest parts of the city and is located where there used to be a ford in the river Grote Aa. In the fourteenth century, the Aa was filled in and buildings were built around the site, creating the current shape.
In 1929, a roundabout was built on the Grote Markt in order to be able to steer the increasing traffic in the right direction. This roundabout has since disappeared and the square is no longer accessible to car traffic, except for taxis and supplies to the shops in the city center. The square was restored in 2006.

For centuries, executions have been seen on the square. For this, there was a pillory at the main guard of the Great or Saint Michael's Church. Criminals were also flogged and branded here. The death penalty was carried out here by means of breaking the wheel, beheading or hanging. This last happened in 1837 when Albert Wetterman was hanged for the murder of his wife.

Due to its central location, many streets lead to the square, the most famous of which is probably the Diezerstraat. The Korte Ademhalingssteeg connects the square with the Grote Kerkplein. There are many old buildings on the square, including the Grote or St. Michael's Church.
