PT: "A HOMENAGEM
Braços hercúleos, traços morenos, pele tisnada pela torreira do sol, mãos calejadas das alfaias e dos remos, pés endurecidos pelos cristais de sal, roupas singelas para o trabalho, assim nos aparece o MARNOTO.
Árdua labuta no transporte do sal em canastras de vime, passo apressado e leve do barco para o armazém, vestes que não lhe roubam a graciosidade feminina de mulher aveirense. Eis um retrato da SALINEIRA.
CONCEITO
Na zona lagunar a paisagem é decorada com as salinas e montes de sal em forma piramidal. Também no Egipto as pirâmides são o seu Ex-Libris.
Assim um horizonte de areia corresponde a um horizonte de água. Atendendo a esta semelhança, em escala diferente, não quis deixar de associar ao Monumento certas curiosidades como se verifica nas referidas pirâmides egipcías.
Assim:
O Monumento está orientado de forma a que cada um dos braços piramidais indique os 4 pontos cardeais. O módulo central está orientado na posição Norte - Sul. As figuras estão viradas a Sul e para a zona lagunar.
Datas que se obtêm somando várias medidas das peças:
A soma de medidas de secção do módulo central exceptuando-se o zero (5+2) é 7. A medida de qualquer das bases em metros é 10. A soma da altura máxima com a altura mínima do módulo central mais a medida de uma das bases em metros (21+18+10) será 49 - 7/10/49 data de nascimento do autor.
A soma (21+18) módulo central + (1.40x4) medidas entre verticais + (3.20m) largura interior módulo central + (40) soma das bases em metros = 959, o ano em que pela primeira vez Aveiro aparece referenciado em documentos escritos.
A soma (21+18+3.20) módulo central + (11.20) altura da pirâmide menor + (2x1.40) medida entre as verticais da pirâmide e o módulo central = 1759 ano em que Aveiro passa a categoria de cidade.
A soma (1.40+7.50) medida interior das pirâmides + (10,20) de uma das bases = 1910 ano de implantação desta Répubica.
A soma das bases em metros (40) dá-nos a latitude de Aveiro que é 40º graus Norte.
A soma dos centrímetros da bases, (20+20+20+20) exceptuando-se o zero dá-nos a longitude de Aveiro que é 8 graus Oeste.
No por de sol surge um arco-iris na parte superior da queda de água, enquanto no nascer do sol surge na parte inferior.
Se prolongar-mos com uma linha imaginária a inclinação superior do módulo central (33º) até à ao nivel do solo a sombra provocada por essa linha dar-nos-iá a hora solar de Aveiro.
Este Monumento é assim também um relógio solar.
A localização orientada deste Monumento (norte solar) foi conseguida no dia 21 de Junho às 12horas observando a posição de sombra de vara espetada no solo para o efeito.
NOTAS DO AUTOR
O Marnoto e Salineira são figuras características desta cidade, que projectaram a sua imagem além fronteiras e a engrandeceram com o seu trabalho. São figuras que práticamente já só pertencem ao passado asiim como outras imagens ex-libris desta Urbe. Só tiveram a sua razão de ser e exstência, inseridas num meio caracteristico por sua vez indissociável das mesmas. Assim, quando se fala no Marnoto e na Salineira vêem-nos à memória também as salinas, a água, o sol, o moliciero, os palheiros e as casas típicas da Costa Nova.
É precisamente esta simbiose que se pretende condensar num Monumento só, como um todo.
Toda a obra Monumental está assente sobre uma base de betão, onde se destacam vários lagos intercomunicáveis que representam as salinas, local de trabalho do Marnoto e da Salineira. As duas formas piramidais representam as pirâmides e o sal. Nestes módulos descortinam-se umas faixas verticais, que simbolizam os armazéns de sal e as típicas casas da Costa Nova. A proa e ré do Moliceiro, barco único no Mundo e como tal imagem a preservar, também se encontra representado neste Monumento, conforme o ângulo de visão vê-se completo. As velas açoitadas pelo vento estão representadas pelo módulo central, com forma de vela de moliciero, totalmente preenchido por uma queda de água. As figuras do Marnoto e da Salineira, com os seus apetrechos, estão conscientemente estilizados, como se fossem o reflexo dessas figuras na água, são um conjunto de salinas que, colocadas topo a topo, formam estas figuras humanas. As salinas e o Homem são assim um todo. São a expressão simples dos desenhos das prôas dos moliceiros.
Este Monumento foi ainda concebido para ser obervado em 360º graus, à velocidade de 20 a 30km, o que lhe confere leveza e movimento em sentido contrário a quem circunda o local, provocando a leitura de imagens como se de um animatógrafo se tratasse e manifestando um regresso nostálgico no tempo.
O conjunto exibe um grande equilíbrio formal com certa “leveza”, facultada pela possibilidade de observar o horizonte através de todos os elementos da composição, o que mantém uma certa cumplicidade com a proximidade envolvente, marcada pela presença da água.

Herculean arms, dark features, skin tanned by the sun, hands calloused from implements and oars, feet hardened by salt crystals, simple clothes for work, this is how MARNOTO appears to us.
Hard toil in the transport of salt in wicker baskets, a hurried and light step from the boat to the warehouse, clothes that do not rob her of the feminine grace of an Aveiro woman. Here is a picture of SALINEIRA.
CONCEPT
In the lagoon area, the landscape is decorated with salt pans and mounds of salt in a pyramid shape. Also in Egypt the pyramids are its Ex-Libris.
Thus a horizon of sand corresponds to a horizon of water. Given this similarity, on a different scale, I did not want to fail to associate certain curiosities with the Monument, as can be seen in the aforementioned Egyptian pyramids.
So:
The Monument is oriented so that each of the pyramidal arms indicates the 4 cardinal points. The central module is oriented in the North - South position. The figures are facing south and towards the lagoon area.
Dates obtained by adding several measurements of the pieces:
The sum of the measurements of the section of the central module, except for zero (5+2) is 7. The measurement of any of the bases in meters is 10. The sum of the maximum height and the minimum height of the central module plus the measurement of a of the bases in meters (21+18+10) will be 49 - 10/7/49 author's date of birth.

At sunset, a rainbow appears at the top of the waterfall, while at sunrise it appears at the bottom.
If we extend the upper slope of the central module (33º) to ground level with an imaginary line, the shadow caused by this line will give us the solar time of Aveiro.
This Monument is also a sundial.
The oriented location of this Monument (sun north) was achieved on the 21st of June at 12:00h observing the shadow position of a stick stuck in the ground for this purpose.
Marnoto and Salineira are characteristic figures of this city, who projected their image across borders and enhanced it with their work. They are figures that practically only belong to the past as well as other ex-libris images of this city. They only had their raison d'être and existence, inserted in a characteristic environment inseparable from them. Thus, when we talk about Marnoto and Salineira, we also think of the salt pans, the water, the sun, the moliciero, the haystacks and the typical houses of Costa Nova.
It is precisely this symbiosis that is intended to be condensed into a single Monument, as a whole.
The entire monumental work is based on a concrete base, where several intercommunicable lakes stand out, representing the salt pans, where the Marnoto and Salineira work. The two pyramid shapes represent the pyramids and the salt. In these modules, vertical strips can be seen, symbolizing the salt warehouses and the typical houses of Costa Nova. The bow and aft of the Moliceiro, a unique boat in the world and as such an image to be preserved, is also represented in this Monument, according to the complete viewing angle. The sails whipped by the wind are represented by the central module, in the shape of a moliciero sail, completely filled by a waterfall. The figures of Marnoto and Salineira, with their equipment, are consciously stylized, as if they were the reflection of these figures in the water, they are a set of salt pans that, placed end to end, form these human figures. The salt pans and Man are thus a whole. They are the simple expression of the designs of the prows of the moliceiros.
This Monument was also designed to be observed in 360 degrees, at a speed of 20 to 30km, which gives it lightness and movement in the opposite direction to those around the place, causing the reading of images as if it were an animatograph and manifesting a nostalgic return in time.
The set displays a great formal balance with a certain “lightness”, provided by the possibility of observing the horizon through all the elements of the composition, which maintains a certain complicity with the surrounding proximity, marked by the presence of water.
