Bonfire (March 21, 1983 – October 28, 2013), in full Gestion Bonfire, was the horse with which Anky van Grunsven won many dressage prizes. Bonfire was a brown Oldenburg gelding, his father was Welt As. Bonfire has been succeeded by Salinero.

On March 25, 2001 Bonfire retired, he was allowed to go out in the meadow in Erp, where he spent his last years. In 2005 a bronze statue of Bonfire was placed in that place, it was made by the Gemert sculptor Toon Grassens.

Bonfire died on October 28, 2013 and was cremated a day later. His ashes were scattered over the meadows of Van Grunsven in Erp, where he always grazed.

Bonfire is probably the most famous Dutch horse ever.
Anky van Grunsven has won almost all important competitions and championships with this horse, even Olympic titles. The overview below shows that Bonfire was a real Champion.
