Op de Nieuwe Veenendaalseweg, ter hoogte van de nummers 130 en 139, staat een grote zomereik. Deze is in het landelijk register monumentale bodem opgenomen als nummer 1683005. De Boom is geplant in de periode tussen 1860 en 1870 en heeft een stamomtrek van meer dan 447 cm. De boom is inmiddels hoger dan 24 m.

De zomereik, bij de Pantarijnschool, is door de Bomenstichting terecht in het bestand van monumentale bomen in Nederland opgenomen. De boom heeft een dikke stam, omtrek 435 centimeter, en verdient daarmee de bronzen medaille voor dikste bomen in de gemeente Rhenen. Deze boom zou net als vele andere eiken en beuken langs de Nieuwe Veenendaalseweg in de jaren zestig van de 20e eeuw zijn gekapt, ware het niet dat de vroegere burgemeester jkhr. Bosch ridder van Rosenthal er een stokje voor had gestoken.

There is a large pedunculate oak on Nieuwe Veenendaalseweg, near numbers 130 and 139. This is listed in the National Register of Monumental Soil as number 1683005. The Tree was planted between 1860 and 1870 and has a trunk circumference of more than 447 cm. The tree is now higher than 24 m.

The pedunculate oak, at the Pantarijnschool, has rightly been included in the list of monumental trees in the Netherlands by the Bomenstichting. The tree has a thick trunk, circumference 435 centimeters, and thus deserves the bronze medal for thickest trees in the municipality of Rhenen. Like many other oaks and beech trees along the Nieuwe Veenendaalseweg, this tree would have been felled in the 1960s, had it not been for the former mayor Jkhr. Bosch knight of Rosenthal had put a stop to it.
