EN: The Trinity Chapel, better known as the Federation Chapel, is located in the village center of Brunnen only about 100 meters from the shore of Lake Lucerne.

It is said that the federation of the original Swiss cantons of 1291 was renewed on this spot in 1315 in an oath. A chapel was built there afterwards as a memorial. I have not found out when this was done.

In 1620 the village was completely destroyed by fire. In the course of the reconstruction, the Landammann (leader of the government) Heinrich Reding acquired the place and had the present chapel built on it in 1632. Inside there are some valuable figures and paintings, e.g. the high altar painting by the Rubens pupil Justus von Egmont.

The chapel was restored in 1990, when the original spatial proportions were restored.
