"Wild West Show
Cody, along with manager Nate Salsbury, started Buffalo Bill's Wild West in 1883. This show would first tour the United States for three years. One performance consisted of wild west activities such as horse racing, target shooting, and riding and catching wild horses. Scenarios were also played out, such as the attack on the stagecoach. The battle of Little Bighorn was also depicted from 1888. The dramatic and heroic character of this performance was appreciated by General Custer's widow.

Buffalo Bills European Tour
In 1887, the show first went to Europe for Queen Victoria's Jubilee. The performance caused a sensation in the English press. During this first stay in England, approximately two million spectators saw the show in 6 months. Buffalo Bill was now an international star. In 1890 he returned to Europe and visited Belgium, France, Spain and Italy, among others. Pope Leo XIII was among the spectators during the performance in Rome. Between 1887 and 1906, Buffalo Bill's Wild West would visit Europe eight times.

Logistical operation of Buffalo Bill's Wild West show
The show was a major logistics undertaking. At its peak during the 1890s, about 500 actors were involved in the performance. The actors and their family members each received three meals a day. Travel was via the railways. When there was a short stay, the wagons served as sleeping places. Tents were set up for longer stays. The show was split over two trains: in addition to all the employees, another 30 bison and more than 100 horses had to be taken along. In addition, from 1895 the show also had stands that could accommodate 20,000 spectators. A performance usually went like this: a parade through the city, then a 2-hour performance. Immediately after the performance, the show was broken down again and the material was loaded onto the wagons. This made it possible to give many shows within a very short time."
