The Zeil- en Motorbootvereniging Deventer exists since September 1941, it was formed during the war as there was a need for berths for some sailing and motor boats. The Vereniging was then called 'Zeilbond voor Deventer en Omstreken'.
In 1951 the Vereniging went to a location at the Rembrandtkade in Deventer, in a sand hole that was created by sand extraction for the benefit of the residential area behind. This port no longer exists.
Because of the Ruimte voor de Rivier project, a new marina was built in 2014, again on the Rembrandtkade in Deventer, but now at another location.
Since then there is a beautiful marina with 220 berths, a spacious jollenveld for trailer boats, a slipway and a winter storage.
The Vereniging is managed entirely by volunteers. The growth and flourishing of the Vereniging is largely due to self-efficacy of the members. The Vereniging is active in organizing youth sailing courses, party evenings, courses for the Boating License and much more.
The berths are for members, but they try to reserve 30 berths for private persons who want to stay overnight.
At this moment there is no room for new members.
