"Het Carillon en Torenuurwerk in Grubbenvorst
Zo lang we ons kunnen herinneren klonk op vaste tijden vanaf het klooster van de zusters Ursulinen een mooi melodietje. Het carillon strooide zijn vriendelijke klanken uit over het dorp en de omgeving. Liedjes aangepast aan de tijd van het jaar, met als uitgangspunt de kerkelijke kalender.
Korte geschiedenis
Vele inwoners van Grubbenvorst hebben als kind Mère Stanislas gekend, na de oorlog het hoofd van de lagere school voor meisjes. Zij was ook de drijvende kracht achter de school voor voortgezet lager onderwijs, VGLO, waar meisjes de eerste beginselen van de huishoudkunde werd bijgebracht. Deze zuster was een dochter van Eijsbouts, een bekende familie van klokkengieters in het Brabantse Asten. Toen Mère Stanislas in 1955 vijfentwintig jaar in het klooster was, schonk vader Eijsbouts een carillon. Dit kreeg een plek bovenop het klooster. Vanaf dat moment was het mooie lichte carillon dagelijks te horen. Door omstandigheden gedwongen verkochten de zusters het klooster. De nieuwe eigenaar had voor het carillon geen plek in zijn bouwplannen. Ook het oude torenuurwerk, dat al vanaf 1912 zonder onderbreking of renovatie dienst had gedaan en de bijbehorende slagklok pasten niet in die plannen. Toen na een technische storing het carillon stil viel werd het niet gerepareerd. Deze stilte viel veel Grubbenvorstenaren op.
Een nieuwe plek
Het Carillon Comité maakte het plan om het carillon en de slagklok weer te laten klinken en het uurwerk weer zichtbaar te maken in een bescheiden toren van staal en glas, te bouwen in het Ursulinenpark. Overleg met gemeente en omwonenden leverde instemming en medewerking op. Het bijna honderdjarige, nog prima functionerende uurwerk kwam goed zichtbaar beneden in de toren. Bovenop staat het carillon en de slagklok in dezelfde constructie als voorheen op het klooster .Alle onderdelen werden gerestaureerd. De bediening van het torenuurwerk werd, zonder afbreuk te doen aan de originaliteit, geautomatiseerd. Thans wordt het volautomatisch opgewonden en wordt de tijdsaanduiding via een computer geregeld. Zodoende hebben warmte en kou geen invloed op de aangegeven tijd.
Realisatie
Dankzij de inzet van velen, de sponsoring van bedrijven en organisaties, de opbrengst van een loterij en de inwoners van Grubbenvorst is dit nieuwe monument op 10 september 2011 officieel in gebruik genomen.
Uitleg diverse onderdelen:
Dit torenuurwerk uit 1912 van de Fa. Eijsbouts uit Asten heeft naast de gebruikelijk en bekende onderdelen ook nog enkele specifieke.
Opgaande leiding: zorgt ervoor dat de wijzers bovenin de toren (mechanisch) worden aangedreven.
Controle cijferplaatje: Hier is de stand van de wijzers op de toren af te lezen.
Minuutomslag: hiermee worden de wijzers telkens een minuut verder gezet.
Windvaan ook wel windvleugel genoemd zorgt voor het juiste tempo voor de wijzers en de slagklok.
Ankerbekken met anker: Boogvormig onderdeel dat, met behulp van de uurwerkslinger, tand voor tand het gangrad vrijgeeft.
Uitlichting slagwerk bedient de telschijf (rechts) en zorgt ervoor dat tijdens de volle en halve uren de slagklok slaat.
Slingervanger deze voorziening zorgt ervoor dat telkens op het hele uur de slinger even wordt vastgehouden. De slinger is namelijk dusdanig afgesteld dat het uurwerk elke uur ca. 10 seconden voor loopt. Aan de hand van signalen van de Atoomklok wordt de slinger op het juiste moment weer losgelaten. Op deze manier geeft het uurwerk altijd de exacte tijd aan ( uiteraard op genoemde 10 seconden na.) Ook de zomer en wintertijd wordt hiermee aangepast.
Automatisch opwindsysteem.Dit is aangebracht om de gewichten die links en rechts in de toren hangen naar boven te takelen. Hierdoor is het opwinden met de handslinger (2 tot 3 X per week) overbodig geworden. De gewichten zorgen uiteindelijk voor de aandrijving van het uurwerk."

"The Carillon and Tower Clock in Grubbenvorst

Brief history
Many inhabitants of Grubbenvorst knew Mère Stanislas as a child, the head of the primary school for girls after the war. She was also the driving force behind the secondary primary school, VGLO, which taught girls the basics of home economics. This sister was a daughter of Eijsbouts, a well-known family of bell founders in Asten, Brabant. When Mère Stanislas had been in the monastery for twenty-five years in 1955, father Eijsbouts donated a carillon. This was given a place on top of the monastery. From that moment on, the beautiful bright carillon could be heard daily. Forced by circumstances, the sisters sold the monastery. The new owner had no place for the carillon in his building plans. The old tower clock, which had been in service since 1912 without interruption or renovation, and the accompanying striking clock also did not fit into those plans. When the carillon fell silent after a technical malfunction, it was not repaired. Many Grubbenvorsten residents noticed this silence.
A new place
The Carillon Committee made the plan to make the carillon and the striking clock sound again and to make the clock visible again in a modest tower of steel and glass to be built in the Ursuline Park. Consultation with the municipality and local residents resulted in approval and cooperation. The nearly hundred-year-old, still well-functioning timepiece was clearly visible at the bottom of the tower. On top is the carillon and the striking clock in the same construction as before on the monastery. All parts have been restored. The operation of the tower clock was automated, without compromising the originality. It is now wound up fully automatically and the time indication is controlled by a computer. Thus, heat and cold have no influence on the indicated time.
Realization
Thanks to the efforts of many, the sponsorship of companies and organizations, the proceeds of a lottery and the inhabitants of Grubbenvorst, this new monument was officially inaugurated on September 10, 2011.
Explanation various parts:
This tower clock from 1912 of the Fa. In addition to the usual and well-known parts, Eijsbouts from Asten also has a few specific ones.
Ascending line: ensures that the hands at the top of the tower are (mechanically) driven.

Minute Turn: Moves the hands forward one minute at a time.

Pendulum catcher This facility ensures that the pendulum is held briefly every time on the hour. The pendulum is set in such a way that the timepiece is about 10 seconds ahead of each hour. On the basis of signals from the Atomic Clock, the pendulum is released at the right time. In this way, the timepiece always indicates the exact time (of course except for the aforementioned 10 seconds.) The summer and winter time is also adjusted with this.
Automatic winding system. This is installed to lift the weights hanging on the left and right in the tower. This makes winding with the hand crank (2 to 3 times a week) superfluous. The weights ultimately drive the timepiece."
