The Audubon Society of Rhode Island Nature Center and Aquarium is at the east side of Narragansett Bay in Bristol, Rhode Island. Visit a natural history museum, see creatures that live in a tidepool and marine life from Narragansett Bay, and look inside a 33-foot life-size model of a North Atlantic Right Whale.

The 28-acre Claire D. McIntosh Wildlife Refuge offers ADA-certified walking trails that pass by a pollinator garden, an insect hotel, and butterfly garden in upland meadows to a half-mile (0.8 km) boardwalk through fresh and saltwater marshes to panoramic views of Narragansett Bay. Guided walks, birding classes, lectures and family programs are offered throughout the year. The facility and trails are handicapped-accessible.

The butterfly garden, beside the pollinator garden, is in the northeast corner of the property near the main building and parking area. It is about 1,000 square feet. The gardens were designed in 2018 by world-renowned landscape architect John Gwynne and are maintained with the help of volunteers of the University of Rhode Island Master Gardener Program. A posted plaque reads:

This garden provides
resources that increase
the world's population
of Monarchs.
