The platinum LP&cassette was offered to Sun Studio's (record label), for selling 600.000 copies of the U2 Rattle and Hum album.
According to Wikipedia, to achieve Platinum standard, an album needs to sell 300.000 copies. I assume that is why there are 2 albums in the frame.
In the UK, it sold 360,000 copies in its first week, making it the fastest-selling album at that point
