Funning Church, built in 1847, is one of the oldest wooden churches in the Faroe Islands. The builder was Jákup Andreassen from Syðrugøta. It is located next to the river Stórás and the fjord Funningsfjørður. On the other side is the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur, with a height of 800 meters.

It is a typical Faroese church, and like many other buildings on the Faroe Islands, it has grass on the roof. You can also see that the roof is sealed with birch bark.
Inside the church there are pews for women on one side and for men on the other. Whether it is still relevant is not known. There is also a sign where a former pastor has written: "Do not spit on the floor".

The church and cemetery are separated by the river, but there is a small wooden bridge from church to cemetery. When you read on the tombstones you can see that the area is inhabited by many sailors.
