Foodsharing point called "Fairteiler" in front of an old inn in Tönnhausen, a district of Winsen (Luhe).
The idea:
foodsharing is an initiative that came into being in 2012 to promote the responsible use of resources and a sustainable food system. The goal of ending food waste is at the top of the list. In Germany alone, this is a major problem: over a third of all food produced ends up in the bin. And it is not only the food itself that is thrown away, but also the energy, time and resources that were necessary for cultivation, harvesting, packaging, transport and storage.
In the Winsen (Luhe) area alone, there are 3 foodsharing points.
This foodsharing point currently consists of two wooden shelves with rain protection and a two-door locker that is used exclusively for food.
At the time of my visit, there was no food in stock. The locker looked freshly cleaned and the Easter holidays may have played a role.
