According to Wikipedia:

"The bridge spans the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal and connects Amsterdam and Diemen with IJburg via the Diemerzeedijk and the Diemerpark. The bridge is located right next to the Zeeburgerbrug on the A10. The Nescio Bridge provides a faster bicycle connection between IJburg and Diemen, the Amsterdam district of Watergraafsmeer and the rest of Amsterdam-East

The bridge was opened to pedestrians on April 9, 2006. Since 7 June 2006, the bridge has also been used by cyclists.

Name
When the span was suspended over the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal (summer 2005), the bridge was named after the prose writer Nescio, because at the time - in the early 20th century - he took long walks with his friends on the Diemerzeedijk, in his work (1918) and thus gave the Diemerzeedijk a place in the collective literary memory.

The bridge is popularly called the 'Eel Bridge', because of its shape."
