Het blauwe hart

Het blauwe hart is een kunstwerk in het centrum van de Nederlandse stad Delft uit 1998, ontworpen door Marcel Smink. Het kunstwerk bestaat uit blauwe glaspanelen aan een frame van roestvrij staal. De kunstenaar wil hiermee verwijzen naar het technische 'hart' van Delft, zijnde de Technische Universiteit. De kleur van het glas verwijst naar Delfts blauw.

De opdracht voor het kunstwerk kwam vanuit de gemeente Delft om de keerlus aan het einde van de Oude Langendijk te verfraaien.[1] Deze keerlus werd gebruikt als uitstappunt voor toerbussen naar de Markt en de rest van de Delftse binnenstad toe, dus het kunstwerk moest als een verwelkoming dienen voor toeristen.

Het blauwe hart

The Blue Heart is a work of art in the center of the Dutch city of Delft from 1998, designed by Marcel Smink. The artwork consists of blue glass panels on a stainless steel frame. The artist wants to refer to the technical 'heart' of Delft, which is the Technical University. The color of the glass refers to Delft blue.

The assignment for the artwork came from the municipality of Delft to embellish the turning loop at the end of the Oude Langendijk.[1] This turning loop was used as an exit point for tour buses to the Markt and the rest of the center of Delft, so the artwork had to serve as a welcome for tourists.
