In the spring of 1945, 15,500 prisoners were rescued from Nazi concentration camps by the White Buses. One of the few preserved White buses can be seen at Malmö Castle. The rescue operation "The white buses" was led by the Swedish count Folke Bernadotte. Folke Bernadotte was vice president of the Swedish Red Cross.
The buses were painted white with red crosses on the roof, sides, front and rear so that they were not confused with military vehicles.

This bus on display has number 44. There are only 5 of the white buses left. The bus is a Volvo B10. Length 7.80 m, width 2.20 m. There is room for 25 passengers.
