Van bron en de stoeptegel
Op een stoeptegel langs de Hoodfstraat, ter hoogte van het Jansenpark, is een stoeptegel geplaatst door de heemkundevereniging van Schijndel. Het gaat over de geschiedenis van de kousenfabriek van Jansen de Wit (Jedewe) die hier tegenover langs de Hoofdstraat heeft gestaan. Deze fabriek is gebouwd in 1917 en in de eerste helft van de 20e eeuw is het bedrijf sterk gegroeid. Het gebouw werd ontworpen door de architect C. van Liempd. Het gebouw werd in de Tweede Wereldoorlog als schuilkelder gebruikt. Het is zwaar gebombadeerd maar na de oorlog weer hersteld. In de jaren’70 en 80 raakt het bedrijf in verval en in 1985 werd het failliet verklaard. De markante fabriek werd in 1986 gesloopt. Nu resteert alleen nog de oorspronkelijk bij de fabriek aangelegde Jansenpark en deze stoeptegel ter herinnering.

From source and the pavement tile
On a pavement tile along Hoodfstraat, near the Jansenpark, a pavement tile has been placed by the local history association of Schijndel. It is about the history of the stockings factory of Jansen de Wit (Jedewe) that stood opposite this along the Hoofdstraat. This factory was built in 1917 and the company grew strongly in the first half of the 20th century. The building was designed by the architect C. van Liempd. The building was used as an air raid shelter during the Second World War. It was heavily bombed but restored after the war. In the 1970s and 1980s, the company fell into disrepair and was declared bankrupt in 1985. The striking factory was demolished in 1986. Now only the Jansen Park originally laid out at the factory and this paving stone as a reminder.
