Kruis als hulde/ herinnering aan de meer dan 150 verongelukte vissers van de oostkust. Oorspronkelijk ontworpen door de Brugse architect Jozef Viérin naar een voorstel van (de latere Brugse schepen en burgemeester) Pierre Vandamme die een dergelijk kruis had gezien in Fécamp waar hij in 1915 als soldaat verbleef. Ingewijd in 1936 door Mgr. Lamiroy. In 1941 wordt het opgeblazen door de Duitsers en na de bevrijding hergoten als geschenk van de Belgische Betonmaatschappij. Betonnen kruis op trappenplatform; op de sokkel, namen van de overleden vissers.

Cross as a tribute to the more than 150 fishermen of the east coast who died. Designed by the Bruges architect Jozef Viérin after a proposal by Pierre Vandamme who had seen such a cross in Fécamp where he stayed as a soldier in 1915. Inaugurated in 1936. In 1941 it was blown up by the Germans and poured back after the liberation as a gift from the Belgian Concrete Company. Concrete cross on stair platform; on the pedestal, names of the deceased fishermen.
