When we spent the sunny spring weekend in southern Holland, we also made a visit to the beach in Scheveningen. Besides many locations where you can eat and drink there was also this still working nostalgic carousel on the Strandweg (beach path). As we found out it was build in 1909, is currently operated by the Koek family and used to travel to several places around in Scheveningen. Since 1987 it is part of the Strandweg (beach path) and was only relocated when the surroundings were renovated in the late 2000's. Since then it stands on its current place.
There was no pricing information at the booth when we visited and while taking some pictures, we found out that the prices for a ride were bargained on an individual base. Also the opening hours are not fixed, usually they start around 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m., but that depends on weather and current mood of the operators.
