The park open in 1954 to commemerated the 400th birthday of the city of Sao Paulo. It was designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer and landscaper Roberto Burle Marx. The park covered almost 2 square kilometers. Inside the park are three lagoons, three museums, playgrounds, areas to run and jog. There's also a convention center.
