The congregation that was to become St. Andrew’s United Reformed Church, first met on March 20th, 1825, in an upper room in Fort Street in Douglas. It was decided that collections should be made for a proper church premises, and the first service was held in the newly constructed St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, on the last Sunday of April 1832.

There were some alterations to this building in 1867, which stood until the 1970’s and was known locally as The Scots' Kirk. A name which was rather misleading as it was part of The Presbyterian Church of England.

In 1972 following the formation of the United Reformed Church, the church became St. Andrew’s United Reformed Church.

During the 1970’s the church congregation could not afford the running cost to maintain the building, which was in a prime location in the centre of the booming financial district of the capital, and the building was sold, and St. Andrew’s URC relocated to premises on Glencrutchery Road close to the TT Grandstand.

The church building was partially demolished in 1997 following a failed attempt to have the building listed. The tower and the steeple were however retained and now form the lift shaft of St. Andrew's House which is now offices. The entrance to the offices was designed to resemble the church's Gothic-revival porch
