This red freestanding arch marks the official entrance of the Japanese Garden, arguably the most important feature of the National Botanical Garden of Dominican Republic, located in Santo Domingo, the nation's capital city.

It's painted in red, made of wood, and kept in pristine condition.

Access to the spot is trough the main gate of the National Botanical Garden, tickets costs 50 DOP for Dominican citizens and a bit more for foreigners. There is no extra fee to gain access to the Japanese Garden.

It's located about 1,5 km from the gate. There is a train (extra cost) available.

It's a relatively complex garden, with all the customary elements of a Japanese garden, including some tall trees characteristic from Japan. Unfortunately and the date of visit all running water was not actually running, channels were dry.
