Hasselt coat of arms info:
"The coat of arms is divided into a heraldic right and left part. The right part has alternating gold and red crossbars. The second part is made of silver and has a green tree standing on a green ground. The entire shield is surrounded by a gold shield border. A deer emerges from the shield, where there would otherwise be a crown. The deer holds the two acanthus leaves enormously with its front legs, these leaves are represented as shield holders. This abbreviation stands for Senatus Populusque Hasselensis, Latin for The Administration and People of Hasselt.
While two metals (gold and silver) are normally not allowed to touch, which is what happens in this weapon with the crossbars and shield seam and on the ribbon, this weapon is not a riddle weapon. Exceptions to the rule are the shield seam and the ribbon. The ribbon is not part of the shield, interests are not subject to the heraldic rules."
