Stabbursdalen National Park was established in 1970 and is 747 square metre. There is a varied nature in the area.
The national park has the northernmost pine forest in the world and although the trees are not that tall, some of them are 500 years old. Otherwise, it is birch trees that grow in the area.
The area has both mountains, meadows and a river, Stabburselva. In summer, the national park is an important grazing area for the Sami reindeer. Other birds and animals in the area are the Capercaillie, the Siberian Jay, squirrels and the Pine Grosbeak.
The Sami have lived in the area for many hundreds of years, and there are therefore old settlements and other traces of the Sami.
It is allowed to fish in the river, however, fishing licenses must be purchased. Berry picking and mushroom picking are allowed. There are many hiking trails and you have to set up a tent and light a fire. However, fire is not allowed in the period April 15 and September 15.
Dogs are allowed, but there is a dog chain restriction in the period 1. April - 20 August.
