Following the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia on July 2, 1776, Benjamin Franklin headed a committee to provide for the defense of Philadelphia, the capital of the revolution. He organized the final construction of Fort Mifflin.

ii. Francis Folger Franklin was born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA 20 OCT 1732. Francis died 21 NOV 1736 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, at 4 years of age. He was christened 16 SEP 1733.

iii. Sarah (Sally) Franklin was born in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA 22 SEP 1743. Sarah died 5 OCT 1808 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA, at 65 years of age. She married Richard Bache in PA, 29 OCT 1767.
