This is the Lekpoort, the last remaining gate to the city of Vianen. One of the main attractions of the old Vianen's city center.

About the Lekpoort, according to the local municipality website:
"The Lekpoort is the only remaining city gate of Vianen. Together with the Oostpoort and the Landpoort, this gate forms the access road to the walled city center until the 19th century. In the 14th century, this gate is nothing more than a simple rectangular passage with two towers. Around 1500 it was replaced by the current two-storey gate.
Above the passage is the gatekeeper's room. One floor up is a prison and the attic can be used as a lookout. The loud bell in the spire, cast in 1647 by François Hemony, not only indicates the time, but was also an alarm bell that could be sounded in the event of fire and danger.
With the rise of strong firearms, both the city walls and the city gates lose their function. In the 19th century, many gates were mainly seen as useless traffic obstacles and were demolished. This includes the Oostpoort and the Landpoort built next to the Grote Kerk in Vianen. In the first years after the Second World War, the Lekpoort suffered greatly from traffic. Due to the temporary disappearance of the Lekbrug and the construction of a skipper bridge at the ferry over the Lek, the Voorstraat, and therefore the Lekpoort, is an important arterial road. After the repair of the Lekbrug, this load will be reduced, because through traffic can drive past Vianen instead of through it."
