MASP inaugurated in 1962, by Assis Chateaubriand and Pietro Maria Bardi. It's situated on Avenida Paulista, the banking center of Sao Paulo.
The building of the museum was designed by Lina Bo Bardi. The main body of the building stands on four lateral supporting pillars, generating a free space of 74 meters.
The collection encompasses more than 7,000 works of art, from Ancient Times to the 21st Century. European paintings and sculptures are the highlight of the Museum: some of the names represent in the museum are: Raphael, Botticelli, Titian, Tintoretto, Clouet, Nattier, Delacroix, Courbet, Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne Rubens, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Turner,Andy Warhol, Picasso, Lerger, Modigliani, Matisse, and Chagall to name a few.
