"The Castle of the Dukes of Brabant is located in the center of Turnhout.

The castle dates from the 12th century and has been repeatedly renovated. In the time of Mary of Hungary, regent of the Netherlands, it was a "court of plaisanterie".

In the 18th and 19th centuries the castle fell into disrepair. The province bought the building from the municipality around the beginning of the 20th century and, after the First World War, carried out a thorough restoration under the supervision of provincial architect Jules Taeymans.

Today the court is housed there."
