Relief art on a memorial stone erected for the fallen citizens of Bjerkvik. It can be seen outside Bjerkvik church.
The Relief art is made of metal, maybe iron, it is square and measures about 40x40 cm. The motif is a woman and a small child hugging each other. They are outdoors as there are small tufts of grass in the background.
The relief is placed on a granite stone on which there is also a text on a metal plate.
"In memory of the victims of the war in Berkvik and Vassdal 1940-1945.
Names of 21 men, women and children.
Raised by citizens 14-8-1955"
In May 1940, there were fierce battles between German and allied forces at Bjerkvik. Here the first Allied landing took place during World War II, and the city was almost laid in ruins. Many inhabitants lost their lives, both men, women and children.
