The town hall of Turnhout is a building on the north side of the Grote Markt in Turnhout. Construction took place between 1959 and 1961

"The plans to build the City Hall dated back to 1948. According to critics, the monumental new building was unfortunate: valuable buildings were demolished, the structure of the courtyards behind it was disrupted, the quiet simplicity of the buildings on the market was destroyed and the tone was set for the deterioration of a high-quality cityscape.
The former old town hall of Turnhout, both cloth hall and meat hall, was a detached building on the south side of the market, located in the axis of Herentalsstraat. Although it was protected in 1936, it was declassified and demolished in 1962."

"Turnhout is a city in Flanders, the north of Belgium. Located in the province of Antwerp. Turnhout is the capital of the Kempen and is also called the "playing card city". The city has approximately 40,000 inhabitants, of which 1448 inhabitants (3.36%) are of Dutch nationality.
