"History
The main altar of the first beguinage church was dedicated in 1415. In 1562 there was a fire in the beguinage, and in 1566 the beguinage church was hit by the iconoclasm.
In the 17th century the beguinage flourished again and in 1624 the church was enlarged. In 1643 the beguinage was enlarged and in 1656 the beguinage acquired a farm, the proceeds of which were to be used to build up or increase the size of the vanden kercke vant zelve beggeynhof. They opted for construction, because a new church was built, which lasted from 1662-1666.
In 1797 the church was used for the Cult of Reason, but in 1814 the beguines returned.
Building
It is a brick three-aisled church, oriented to the west, in a predominantly baroque architectural style. The church has a five-sided chorus closure. On the roof is a roof turret with clock and constricted needle point. The baroque front has a swung in and out facade frame. The walls contain some 17th and 18th century masonry marks."
