There is an Archdiocese of Brussels in Belgium and an Archdiocese of The Hague and the Netherlands. Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium and locum-tenens of The Hague and the Netherlands led both dioceses until 2017. Since December 2017, Archbishop Eliseos has headed the Archdiocese of The Hague and the Netherlands. In the Netherlands and Belgium there are a total of 20 parishes, 1 chapel and 4 monasteries. In the Netherlands, many believers from other Eastern Orthodox Churches and also native Dutch people attend the services of the Russian Orthodox Church.

One of the Parishes is this one in Deventer. The official name is: Orthodoxe Parochie H.H. Eersttronende Apostelen Petrus en Paulus.
The local Russian Orthodox Church was founded in the 1950s by the Russian couple Lagodin. In 1999 the Parish bought the property on Korte Assenstraat 13, for an amount of € 226.000.

The property does not look like a church, it is a historic building, among other buildings. You only see the facade of the church.
Deventer was a Hanseatic city and many of the buildings in the city center were used for storage of merchandise. It is a very old building. The church was expanded in 2008 with the existing cellar, which was filled with 16th century rubble. The cellar is now in use as coffeeroom.

The church was officially consecrated on June 30, 2011 by Archbishop Sergei of Paris during a four-hour celebration. Father Theodoor van der Voort, as he is called by the parishioners, was also appointed Archpriest.

The church space is modest in size, but many people can still participate in the service, because in the Orthodox Church people usually stand during the services and not sit. During the Consecration almost 200 people were in it.

In the church, the high icon wall, the iconostasis, stands out. Behind it is the altar room. The icons of the iconostasis were painted by Yevgeny Tisov from Kostroma, a city 380 km northeast of Moscow.
The iconostasis has a traditional layout: to the right of the royal doors the Christ icon, to the left the Mother of God icon. On the far right, the icon of the patron saints, Peter and Paul, and on the far left, that of St. Lebuinus and St. Nicholas. Above it the icons of the twelve great feasts. There are weekly church services, which are open to everyone.
Father Theodoor van der Voort is in lead of the parish.
This Parish has about 200 members, from which about 70 visit the sunday services every week.
