"One of the most remarkable buildings on the Voorstraat is the Anduspand, also known as the former cantonal court. This national monument with classicist facade and high Ionic pilasters was built in 1807 by Pieter Hendrik Schelkens, where Schelkens' grandson, twelve-year-old Johannes op den Hooff, laid the first stone together with seven-year-old Christina van Braam. They married a few years later.

Between 1894 and 1995 the building served as a district court. From 1938 it is also the location for the post office, police station and constable's residence. During the Second World War it was the base for the military police. After the war, the building retained its functions as a police station and subdistrict court until 1995."
