Above the front door are the following years: 1742 and 1892. The coat of arms dates from 1742 which is the first year over the door.


Varden in Kristiansund, is an old watchtower that was to warn of enemy ships during the Napoleonic Wars. Here was the base station for the optical telegraph between Kristiansund and Trondheim.
This tower is a copy of a tower that was in the same place. The first tower on the site was a wooden tower from 1801, which in 1892 was demolished and replaced by a brick tower.
