This is a small abandoned copper mine about 100 yards off of the Twin Sisters Lake Trail near Bumping Lake in the Cascade Mountains. This area was actively mined for copper in the early 1900's and the area is pocked with mines. If you look over the hillside from the mine entrance you will see an old rusty mining sledge. We found this while searching for a geocache nearby.
The trailhead is located at 45.149 W121 21.683. Near the trail head is the Copper City trail which will take you to the Copper City mine and the Deep Creek mine. Be sure to bring bug spray because the biting flies can get pretty bad here.
A NW Forest Pass ($5) is necessary to park here. There is a free campground at the trailhead with picnic tables and fire rings. Carry out your garbage and carry in your own water. If you want more amenities there are several pay campgrounds along Bumping River road as you drive back to the trailhead.
