"The Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo society was established on June 8, 1951 by a group of regular summer vacationers who were sportsmen and women from the sea. His idea was to have a suitable place to meet and that would serve to promote all the tourist and sporting possibilities that the Ría de Pontevedra offers. Prior to this date, the first statutes and the constitutional deed were approved for the purposes of the current Associations Law.
The first great challenge that the Board of Directors had was to find land on which to build the social building. It was not an easy undertaking. Procedures in official and private organizations, preliminary project, financial studies, disinterested aid from professionals and from Minister José Solís himself, led to the BOE, dated November 18, 1960, publishing the initial transfer of 343 square meters in the fishing port . The works began in April 1961 and the building was inaugurated on July 25 of the same year. The founding bondholders were 197 and among them it is worth highlighting the famous actor Manolo Morán and the eminent physicist Julio Palacios.
The social and sporting life of this Club soon attracted the obligatory visit of prominent figures of the cultural and political summer life in Galicia. In his Book of Honor highlights the visit of His Majesty His Majesty. the Kings of Belgium in August 1962. From the Club they witnessed a Dornas regatta and presented trophies to the winners of the motorboat and ski competitions. In 1992, the Infanta Cristina, participating in the Spring Regatta organized by the MRCY of Baiona, made a stopover, and in September 2000 H.M. King Juan Carlos spent a whole day on the occasion of the presentation of the Spanish team participating in the International Sardinia Cup Regatta of which he was part.
The most outstanding sporting events are the celebration in 1968 of the Galician Championship of the Vaurien class and the scoring events for the Spanish Motorboat Championship. In 1970 the preparatory and pre-selection tests for the Vaurien World Championship. The same year the Galician Youth Championship and the Regional Championship of Vaurien were held. In 1971 sailors from this Club won the Vaurien Spanish Championship for the second time. In 1972, HRH Prince Felipe was appointed Honorary Member of the Sailing School and the Prince of Asturias Trophy for the Optimist class was created. In 1974 the Galician Championships of 470 are held. In 1976 the Galician Championships of Vaurien are organized, this same year our sailor Pedro Campos wins the Vaurien World Championship held in Monaco and the Spanish Championship of 420. In 1984 the championship is held Galician and Spain from Vaurien.
Since the founding of the Nautical Club, every year different dinghy sailing regattas are organized in their different classes and cruises. In 2000 the Club won the International Sardinia Cup Regatta, with H.M. King Juan Carlos aboard the Bribón, in the team that represents R.C.N. Sanxenxo. In 2001 the Vaurien Spanish Championship and the Optimist Spanish Team Championship were held. That same year the I AUDI Challenge was held within the High Level Galician Circuit and the I President Trophy of the Xunta de Galicia won by José Cusí's Bribón boat.
For his sporting activity in 2001 he was awarded the National Sailing Award as the best Nautical Club. In 2002 he organized the Spanish Vaurien and Cadet Class Championships. In the same year, a team from this Club, made up of the Rascal Telefónica Movistar, participated in the Admiral's Cup Regatta and finished second. The construction of the Marina in 1998 allowed the Nautical Club to be known and frequented by the best international sailors.
The Finnish Nautor Team and the German Illbruck, participants in the 2002 Volvo-Round the World Regatta, trained here for months. Grant Dalton, Bowe Beking, Peter Blake, Russell Coutts and John Kostecki are leading international sailing figures who will pass through this Cub Nautical.
The Club currently has about 1,100 members in its different modalities. In its Sailing School theoretical-practical classes of initiation and improvement are given to children and adults throughout the year. During the summer months, bottom fishing and trolling championships are held. In addition, it has a section of underwater fishing whose members go out all year round, and pays attention to the ethnological study of the traditional boats of Galicia and sailing in them. All this, together with the prestige achieved in recent years, led to the granting of R.C.N. of Sanxenxo the organization of the start from Galicia of the 2005 - 2006 Round the World Regatta "Volvo Ocean Race".

"To become a partner, it is necessary to buy a bond, worth € 12,000, which could be sold when the 200 bonds issued in 2004 are covered or three years after the bonds were issued. Membership will be requested from the club by writing and sending the membership card, a copy of the payment receipt for the obligation and the issuance conditions signed on the last page."
