Västerbottens Museum is an outdoor museum where you can see various buildings from the area. Among other things, also this elevated storehouse from a Sami camp, in swedish called a "Stolpebod".
The house, which is a storage house for food - grain / potatoes / meat / fish, is built of timber, also the roof which is then covered with grass. The entrance is not that big, half the size of a normal door, so you have to crawl into the house.
The house is elevated and stands on 4 tree trunks. All 4 tree trunks have branches at one end.
The stairs are a single carved timber post that can be removed.
The fact that the house is elevated means that the food was safe for wild animals. This was very important as there was to be food for the families all winter.
