On December 16, 1944, the Germans launched their last major offensive in the west. Bastogne is a critically important goal that Americans must defend at all costs. A man, Brigadier General Anthony McAuliffe, Acting Commander of the 101st Airborne Division arrives on December 19, 1944 in Bastogne with his division and sets up his headquarters in the barracks "Sub-Lieutenant Heintz". On December 22, 1944, he made history by pronouncing the famous "Nuts" at the request of surrender of the Germans who surrounded the city. This negative and brief reply will have a major impact on the outcome of the Battle of the Bulge.

Since 2010, BASTOGNE BARRACKS has been converted into a WWII Interpretation Center.

You will be able to discover one of the largest collections of military vehicles visible on the continent, as well as a quantity of various materials relating to the Second World War.
