Da Rubjerg Knude fyr og fyrmesterbolig oprindeligt blev bygget, lå det 200 meter inde i landet. Fyrtårnet er placeret på en mægtig sandklint som bevæger sig længere og længere mod øst, og samtidig kommer kysten tættere på. For at standste sandet beplantedes klitten med marehalm, med det resultat, at klitten blot voksede sig større. Jo mere man plantede, jo mere voksede klitten. Fyrmesterboligen blev dækket af sand og havet var nu så tæt på fyret, at der var fare for at det ville falde i havet.
Da fyret og sandklitterne er en stor turistattraktion blev det besluttet at prøve at flytte fyret. Rubjerknude fyr blev flyttet til sin nuværende placering i 2019. Det blev flyttet 70 m længere ind i landet på en nyopfundet "vogn". Begivenheden blev vist i TV over hele verden. Man regner med at det kan være på sin nuværende placering i omkring 20 år, inden havet igen er for tæt på.

Rubjergknude fyrtårn er altid et besøg værd. Her kan man virkelig se naturens kræfter og hvordan det kan forandre et landskab. Vi har besøgt stedet mange gange, helt tilbage hvor der også var fyrmesterbolig. Det har derfor været spændende at følge med i, hvordan fyret blev flyttet.





When Rubjerg Knude lighthouse and lighthouse keeper's house were originally built, it was located 200 meters inland. The lighthouse is located on a mighty sand dune which moves further and further to the east, and at the same time the coast gets closer. To stop the sand, the dune was planted with mare straw, with the result that the dune simply grew larger. The more one planted, the more the dune grew. The lighthouse keeper's residence was covered with sand and the sea was now so close to the lighthouse that there was a danger that it would fall into the sea.
Since the lighthouse and the sand dunes are a major tourist attraction, it was decided to try moving the lighthouse. Rubjerknude lighthouse was moved to its current location in 2019. It was moved 70 m further inland on a newly invented "wagon". The event was shown on TV all over the world. It is estimated that it may be at its current location for about 20 years before the sea is too close again.

Rubjergknude lighthouse is always worth a visit. Here you can really see the forces of nature and how it can change a landscape. We have visited the place many times, all the way back where there was also a lighthouse keeper's residence. It has therefore been exciting to follow how the lighthouse was moved.
