Located in a privileged situation, on a promontory that served as a defensive bulwark from attacks from the sea, according to Mr. Jesús Evaristo Casariego it may have been built for the first time in the 13th century, although it underwent various renovations in later centuries, especially in the 18th , promoted by Bishop Rafael Tomás Menéndez de Luarca.
The façade has an access door with a carpanel arch whose frames are painted in light gray and with outlined lines in black simulating ashlars or voussoirs. It is made of wood and double-leafed, with a solid lower part and a glazed upper part with an iron protection fence. Above it there is a circular rose window with slightly modulated stone frames.
Its right side adopts a traditional position, with the eaves of the gabled roof that ends regularly and with a small semicircular opening that internally illuminates a room attached to the gallery, also painted in gray like the door. However, its left part adopts a semicircular shape that surrounds the tower.
On the façade there is a belfry of granite ashlars, formed by two pilasters, molded in the Tuscan manner, a small semicircular vault in which the bell is located and a pediment topped by a cross with equal arms.
The rectangular tower has a spiral staircase, small openings and is topped with a truncated spire. The tower has a samll bell.
