Two dedication plaques are at the head of a hiking/biking trail along the Mississippi River in Clinton, Iowa. The first plaque is "Dedicated to the Clinton County Astronauts of the National Air & Space Administration". The astronauts are:
CDR. Dale A. Gardner USN, who went into space in August, 1983, and November, 1984.
Dr. George D. (Pinky) Nelson, who went into space in April, 1984, January, 1986, and September, 1988.
Col. David C. Hilmers USMC, who went into space in October, 1985, September, 1988, February, 1990, and January, 1992.
The second plaque is "Dedicated to the Clinton County Citizens who materially assisted in the exploration of space".
