Characteristics:

The sculpture is quite primitive of light biotite granodiorite , the so-called granite strzeblowski, probably from the Slezanski region, about 148 cm long, 47 to 57 cm wide, about 100 cm high, shows a schematic representation of an animal standing on four legs, probably a bear or a boar, with a bear the tail. The paw pairs were presented as columns. The statue is damaged - the lower parts of the legs are missing and the surface of the head is damaged. Two marks are carved on the sculpture: one older on the side of the sculpture (now obliterated) and the other in the form of an oblique cross on the belly, probably made at the beginning of the 20th century.

History:

The object was probably built in the La Tene period, in the period from 200 BC to around 400 BC. The sculpture was discovered by the road near Strzegomian. It was probably not the original location of the statue. It is possible that it was in one of the holy circles in Sleza. In modern times, it was known at least from the 18th century, then it was lying on its side. The sculpture became more famous from 1853, when it was already placed vertically. In 1903, the statue was moved to the top of Sleza. Initially near the new shelter, then near the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where it stands under a sycamore tree.

The second bear statue within the Sleza Massif is located below, along the yellow trail leading from Wiezyca . It was placed in a covered shelter next to the statue known as the Maiden with a Fish . It is possible that he made a "pair" with the sculpture found in Strzegomiany.
