Geschiedenis van het St. Jozefgesticht. In het voormalige St. Jozefgesticht zijn onder andere thans gehuisvest de Stichting Oud Soest, de Stichting Vrienden van het Museum Oud Soest en de Historische vereniging Soest-Soesterberg.
Bij akte van 6 maart 1853 verkreeg de parochie een stuk bouwland ter grootte van 42 roeden en 50 ellen, kadastraal sectie H nummer 317/18 en een perceeltje van 7 roeden sectie H nummer 319. Op deze grond zo was het plan zou het St Jozefgesticht met klooster en schoollokalen voor de meisjesschool verrijzen. Onderwijs, bejaardenzorg en armenzorg zijn altijd een bijzondere taak voor de kerk geweest.
Met de zusters van O.L. Vrouw te Amersfoort werd overeengekomen dat zij in het te bouwen gesticht een kloostergemeenschap zouden vestigen die de uitvoering van de beoogde taken op zich zou nemen. Het gebouw zou eigendom van de kerk blijven, maar werd in gebruik gegeven aan de zusters.
De eerste steen werd gelegd door Adolf Frederik Jacob, oud IX jaar en oudste zoon van den Heer E. Moormann, de 12de july MDCCCLXVIII.
Een naast de hoofdingang van het gesticht (nu museum Oud Soest) aangebrachte gedenksteen herinnert nog aan dit feit. De steen is wat beschadigd maar de voornamen van de negenjarige en de datum van de plaatsing zijn echter heel duidelijk leesbaar. Verder herinnert alleen nog de stijl van het gebouw en de versiering in de voorgevel boven de hoofdingang aan de eertijds gewijde bestemming van dit complex.

History of the St. Joseph's Asylum. The Old Soest Foundation, the Friends of the Oud Soest Museum Foundation and the Soest-Soesterberg Historical Association are now housed in the former St. Joseph's Institute.
By deed of March 6, 1853, the parish obtained a piece of arable land measuring 42 rods and 50 cubits, cadastral section H number 317/18 and a plot of 7 rods section H number 319. with a monastery and classrooms for the girls' school. Education, care for the elderly, and relief for the poor have always been a special responsibility of the Church.
It was agreed with the sisters of O.L. Vrouw in Amersfoort that they would establish a monastic community in the asylum to be built, which would carry out the intended tasks. The building would remain the property of the church, but was given to the sisters for use.
The foundation stone was laid by Adolf Frederik Jacob, aged IX years and eldest son of Mr. E. Moormann, on the 12th of July MDCCCLXVIII.
A memorial stone placed next to the main entrance of the asylum (now Museum Oud Soest) is a reminder of this fact. The stone is somewhat damaged, but the first names of the nine-year-old and the date of placement are very clearly legible. Furthermore, only the style of the building and the decoration in the facade above the main entrance remind us of the former purpose of this complex.
