Cross-country skiing routes in and around Lillehammer in a varied landscape. The routes are both with and without hills, and in different lengths. The routes go through forests and through open landscapes where there are views over the city.
In addition to cross-country skiing, the trails are used all year round for hiking.
The Norwegian Tourist Association (DNT) has produced overview maps. These are partly located in the area, and can also be purchased as personal maps.
Most Norwegians are probably born with skis on their feet and prefer long routes. In fact, you can also see Norwegians running on roller skis in the summer. But tourists who are not so professional on skis can choose slightly shorter routes.
Lillehammer hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics and in 2016 hosted the Youth Olympics for the 15-18 year olds.
