Bij het vernieuwen van oevers van kanalen en rivieren wordt op verschillende plaatsen langs de oever door de beheerder een Fauna-uitstapplaats aangebracht. In kanalen met steile oevers verdrinken jaarlijks vele dieren. Deze helling van stortsteen dient als uitklimplaats voor dieren die in het water leven. Plantengroei zorgt voor dekking, zodat de dieren zich een stuk veiliger voelen.

In Gouda is een Fauna-uitstapplaats gemaakt langs de Gouwe. In dit gebied komt de ringslang voor, een wettelijk beschermde diersoort.

When renewing the banks of canals and rivers, the manager installs a Fauna boarding point at various places along the banks. Every year many animals drown in canals with steep banks. This slope of rock falls serves as a climbing site for animals that live in the water. Plant growth provides cover, so the animals feel a lot safer.

In Gouda, a Fauna boarding point has been created along the Gouwe. The grass snake is found in this area, a legally protected species.
