" David is a character in the Bible, his life and work are described in the books of Samuel and Chronicles , while his old age and death are narrated at the beginning of I Kings . According to the sacred writings; He was Saul's successor , being the second monarch of the United Kingdom of Israel , who expanded it significantly to control the cities of Jerusalem , Samaria , Petra , Zabah and Damascus .
David is credited with the authorship of the Book of Psalms , based on mentions of various books of the Bible and the titles of the psalms themselves, 5 although textual criticism highlights the difficulties of such attribution. 6 He is considered to be one of the great rulers of Ancient Israel and, therefore, an iconic historical figure in modern Zionism . He is recognized as a king and prophet in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam."
