Trondheim Art Museum shows both exhibitions from an extensive collection of Norwegian and international art and contemporary art exhibitions.
The museum wants to increase interest in art and therefore there are several temporary exhibitions throughout the year.
The first painting purchased for the museum in 1864 was Adolph Tidemand's (1814-1876) Norwegian Christmas custom (1846). Since then, many paintings and sculptures have been purchased for the permanent exhibition.
The museum holds several workshops, both for children and adults, to increase interest in art. For example, a course is held where you learn about Still Life.
