Although part of the ruins left from an old textile factory.... this chimney is on a base that is detached from the rest of the factory remains. There is no information at the site since this is not really a common tourist sight...but quite off the beaten track.

This website (visit link) informs us:

"La Escondida: old factory and aqueduct, a historical wonder of Nayarit

The town of La Escondida is located just 30 minutes from the city of Tepic and has a former hacienda that was built at the beginning of the 20th century with the intention of refining cane to turn it into sugar and distribute it throughout Mexico and even Europe. This sugar mill consists of three large buildings, which are currently in a very deteriorated state over time.

The main construction that stands out since you arrived at these ruins, houses in its first floor the equipment and machinery necessary for the production of sugar, such as the cane mill powered by a hydraulic turbine, which worked, thanks to a long aqueduct that to this day still moves water.

This aqueduct is currently part of the beautiful landscape of the communities, forming beautiful arches that are characteristic of this site, as a symbol of the importance of this farm when it was in operation.

Right here were also the boilers that were used to cook sugarcane juice and chacuacos, that is to say the vents of the boilers that are as high as the main building itself.
On the top floor of this building, were the administrative offices of the high command of this factory, which had a significant power of influence over the workers and the population.

At the end of the sugar production process, it was transported by mules to the Port of San Blas, where it was sent to Europe.
If you want to visit this impressive place, we recommend doing it during the day, be careful when exploring the place and above all respect this historic place in Nayarit."
