Equestrian sports were included in the Olympic program for the tenth time during the 1956 Summer Olympics. Due to Australia's strict quarantine regulations, equestrian sports were moved from Melbourne to Stockholm. The competitions were held in the period 10 to 17 June at Stockholm Stadium. It was competed in three disciplines; military, dressage and show jumping for six Olympic titles, three individual and three in teams.
