EN: The trained candy maker Johann "Hans" Riegel founded the Haribo company in Bonn in 1920. The company name is made up of the first two letters of the words "Hans Riegel Bonn". In 1922, Hans Riegel invented the forerunner of today's gold bear and was able to successfully market it internationally.

In 1925, liquorice products were also added to the range. As a result of these expansions, the production facility, which is still active today, was built in the Kessenich district of Bonn in the early 1930s and the administrative headquarters were also relocated there. After the Second World War, various partnerships and takeovers of foreign confectionery manufacturers, as well as the establishment of sales organizations, made Haribo internationally known.

In 2009 the company management decided to give up the previous administrative headquarters in Bonn because the area around Bonn offered no space for further expansion. The administrative headquarters were rebuilt with an additional production facility in the Grafschaft region (in Rhineland-Palatinate), the production facility in Bonn was retained.

Unfortunately, due to the hygiene laws in force, a tour of the plants is not possible.
