The Huichol Indians who prefer to be called Wixárika use representations of deer in much of their art. The deer no doubt has a deeper significance that eludes the poster of this Waymark. This large sculpture of a deer is located at the entrance to the small preserved Huichol village of Zitakua...to which many tourists come to get a sample of the culture. The deer is painted mostly blue...but has many other figures painted on it...including more deer. There is no sign at the site about title, artist or date.
